Welcome from the Head of School

Welcome to the Stewart Headlam School Website. We hope that you can use it to find information you need to know or simply to show off what’s happening to your family and friends. For new visitors we hope that it gives you a view to learning and life at Stewart Headlam.

It is an absolute pleasure and privilege to be the Head of School of this warm, friendly and welcoming school. Stewart Headlam is a primary school that serves children from 3 to 11 years. We were a two form entry school but are currently reducing to a one form of entry, with some upper KS2 classes still being two form.  We are located in a multicultural community, situated between bustling Whitechapel and Bethnal Green, the heart of London’s East End.  Ever since Stewart Headlam opened its doors in the late 19th century, pupils have been and are at the heart of everything we do.

We want all of our children to be happy, healthy and enjoy learning. We make every effort to ensure children at Stewart Headlam get the best opportunities we can offer. Our curriculum is designed to be relevant to the children and engage, inspire and elevate children’s knowledge and understanding.

Our excellent team of staff ensure children make good rates of progress as a result of great teaching and support for learning. We challenge pupils to achieve their best, develop, knowledge, skills and attitudes which will help them to become successful learners and develop long and lasting friendships. We have high expectations of all individuals and promote respect, kindness and a sense of pride. We are very proud of our children. Visitors to Stewart Headlam often tell us how hardworking, polite, well behaved and happy our children are. British Values form an important part of our school ethos and we have the children’s wellbeing at the forefront of all we do.

This is reflected in our school affirmation of

‘My mind is like a pearl,
I can do anything in this world,
Good, better, best,
Never let it rest,
Until your good is better,
And your better best!

We value parent support and look forward to working with you whilst your child or children are at Stewart Headlam. We hope that your association with the school is a long and happy one. Should you require further information on any aspect of the school then please get in touch we will be pleased to help, especially if it concerns your child.
